Over the past few years we have had holiday Bible Clubs, and each year an amazing turnout... This year, however, was slightly different. Instead of the 24+ PCI team members that have come in past years, we had a team of 6, including the famous Laura Crossett, who had named herself "The Link Person" (team leader in other words) The rest of the team of helpers was composed of members of the church. This being new, we weren't exactly sure how it would turn out.... but it was a BIG success!
The theme this year was of the Olympics, which tied in nicely to 'People of Faith' as our Bible Stories, and the kids seemed to really love it. There were fun, games and even a sketch....
About the sketch. It was about a leisure centre in Magherafelt which was to be inspected by the very dodgy-sounding Mr Tip (Samuel Curry) - and the kids really caught on quickly that he was the bad guy! Oblivious to Mr Tip's scheming was Monica, the manager, (Deborah Curry) who worked very hard to keep things running smoothly and nearly failed because of Mr Tip's sabotaging. Paul/a the Pool attendant (Rachel Curry/Matthew Brown) and Ikeyarr the physiotherapist (Jemma Dawood) were getting increasingly worried about the state of things, but - except for one time! - Freddy and Teddy, the sports coaches (Rebecca Currie and Abigail Hibbert)kept cheerful and fit. They had to face numerous challenges until finally, the cleaner and under-cover detective, Iva Mop, (Georgia Hibbert)catches Mr Tip red-handed in front of the Mayor! Thank-you to the MAD folk who helped act this sketch out!
The teens had their own section where they went through the film Coach Carter and did a Bible Study around it. On of the most memorable thinng was this paragraph which was partially quoted on Coach carter:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that mostfrightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to bebrilliantgorgeoustalentedfabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we areliberated from our own fear, our presenceautomatically liberates others"

Thank-you to all of the leaders who helped make this year's Holiday Bible Club a success. God Bless.
